Teachers’ Day Dedication Service 2024 - FEED MY LAMBS

On 24 August 2024, over 300 preschool staff from 90 preschools/churches came together with a shared purpose at the Christian Early Childhood Teachers' Day Dedication Service 2024. This worship service was a heartfelt demonstration of unity across the Christian community that we serve one God - our Lord Jesus Christ.

Held at the Church of the Good Shepherd, the service reminded everyone that being in ministry is not just a “job”; it is a calling from God. Those who teach young children are entrusted with nurturing and guiding them, shaping their minds, hearts, and spirits, and helping them experience God’s truth and love.

The service opened with a prayer by Elder Oswald Goh from the Bible-Presbyterian Church in Singapore, followed by a time of praise and worship by the worship team from Bethesda Frankel Estate Church.

Theme of Service & Teachers’ Day Memento

The theme for the service, "Feed My Lambs," or “喂养我的羊,” was beautifully tied to the day's scripture reading from John 21:1-17.

In line with the theme of the service, the Teachers’ Day memento is a lamb puppet, along with a bookmark featuring the key Bible verses of the dedication service.

Each time we see or use the lamb puppet, let it remind us that children are the precious lambs entrusted to us by the Lord. As Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me," and He also instructed us to feed His lambs.

Our mission is to shepherd these young ones with care and love.

Scripture Reading

The scripture passage was read in both English and Mandarin by the children from Zion Bishan Kindercare, reinforcing the message of nurturing and guiding the young in their journey. Good job children!!!

Exhortation/ Sermon

Archdeacon Wong Tak Meng from the Diocese of Singapore shared the message, with translation by Ps Lydia Wee from St Andrews’ Community Chapel. He shared a reminder of Peter’s reconciliation with Jesus and the other disciples after Christ’s death and resurrection, providing us with strength and hope in our journey with Him.

The message highlighted:

1) Jesus' Crucifixion frees us from fearing suffering.

2) Jesus' Resurrection shows that He is making all things new.

3) Jesus' Great Commission calls us to go out and transform lives.

Summary of Sermon in Mandarin

Revd Wong Siow Hwee from the Presbyterian Church in Singapore then guided us through the Covenant pledge and dedication prayer, as we rededicated ourselves to the Lord’s service in the ministry He has assigned to us for the journey ahead.

We are grateful to God for everyone who took part in this dedication service. Once again, we praise God for His Spirit, which uplifted our hearts and renewed our strength, reminding us of our calling to nurture and care for His lambs.

Save the Date: Next year’s Dedication Service is on 23 August 2025!
