Teachers’ Day Dedication Service 2023 - RIDING OUT THE STORM

Zion Bishan Bible-Presbyterian Church was the venue of the 2023 Teachers’ Day Dedication Service, on Saturday, 19 August. This is the fifth annual dedication service organised for the Christian community serving in the early childhood ministry in Singapore. Over 300 preschool staff and ministry workers gathered to sing praises to the powerful name of Jesus and thank God for His goodness to us for yet another year. Over 65 different preschools were represented at this year’s dedication service. This year’s service was organised by the Christian Preschool Alliance and led by the Lutheran Church in Singapore. The worship leaders for this service were Rev. Eric Chan and Rev. Sarah Ang from Queenstown Lutheran Church.

Elder Oswald Goh, from Zion Serangoon Bible-Presbyterian Church opened the service with a prayer of adoration and praise to our sovereign, faithful, merciful, and gracious God. Scripture Reading, from Matthew 14:22-33, was ably and confidently led by children from Ang Mo Kio Methodist Preschool in both English and Mandarin.

Rev. Dr Peter Poon, committee member of the Presbyterian Education Council and former associate minister at Orchard Road Presbyterian Church, brought us the Word of God, with translation into Mandarin by Pastor Xing Jing Jing from Truth Baptist Church.

Rev. Poon reminded us that:

  • Calamities and storms do not just befall us, it is the Lord who orders and directs our paths - Jesus made the disciples set off into the rough and stormy seas.

  • In order to walk on water, we need to get out of the boat

  • In the end, we will all bow the knee and worship Christ.

Bishop Lu Guan Hoe, from the Lutheran Church in Singapore then led us all in the Covenant pledge and dedication prayer as we consecrated ourselves again for the Lord’s service in the preschool ministry for another year.

We thank God for all who participated in the service of dedication. We thank God that His Spirit ministered to our spirits, lifting our hearts and invigorating our bodies, reminding us that though we may face stormy seas and inclement weather, the One who calms the storms is the One who goes with us.

THIS YEAR’S MEMENTO

The memento is a coat pin of a boat riding out a storm. The boat represents us facing today's challenging environment. However, it also symbolises that we can be strong and courageous because of God’s Power and Faithfulness.

He will RIDE OUT THE STORM with us

EXHORTATION

Rev. Dr Peter Poon, committee member of the Presbyterian Education Council, brought us the Word of God, with translation into Mandarin by Pastor Xing Jing Jing from Truth Baptist Church.
