This year’s theme is – What’s In Your Box? Only The Best for our God. To commemorate Teacher’s Day 2020, Christian preschools across Singapore participated in “What’s In Your Box?” pre-event activities at their respective centres leading to Teachers’ Day to commemorate this special occasion.

What’s In Your Box? Our Commitment in a Box - for Preschool Staff

Preschool staff who sign-up early for the pre-event activities receives a special wooden box and a commitment pledge card each. Participants pray and write down their commitment to God on the pledge card to dedicate/ re-commit themselves to God.

The pledge card will then be placed inside the wooden box. And this symbolises the participants committing their ‘5 loaves and 2 fish’ into God’s hands and letting God take care of the rest. Participants can also find something symbolic to put in the box to represent what they want to commit to God.

Lesson Package on 5 Loaves and 2 Fish - for Children

A lesson package on the Bible story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 is given to preschools for teachers to teach children about this story and the values behind it. Teachers teach the children to create their own “What’s In Your Box?” boxes using recycled materials.

Children are then asked to choose something that they wish to give to God or to others and place into the box to serve as their 5 loaves and 2 fish.

Activity Guide - “What’s in Your Box?” Pre-Event Activities

The Activity Guide for the “What’s In Your Box?” activities for Christian preschools to partake together at their respective centres leading to Teachers’ Day can be downloaded below.

Note that the Activity Packs and Wooden Boxes have been all been fully taken up. But you can still use the lesson plan to conduct the bible lesson activity for your students/ children. 

You are encouraged to also send in photos of the activities in your centres, for publishing on the event website to commemorate Teachers’ Day 2020, and inspire all Christian preschool staff to continue the great work of loving and caring for young children.
